Jesus affirmed that "you shall love your neighbor as yourself" is the second greatest commandment (Leviticus 19:18). What does that mean? Some people interpret this as "love your neighbor as you love yourself", but no where in scripture is this rendered that way. In fact, some people are so totally self-centered they have a difficult time loving others, while some people loathe themselves, thinking they are of no account. What is the correct understanding of this command? If we look further into the context of Leviticus 19, we find the Holy Spirit gives us some great insight into the correct meaning of this law about relationships.
Has the world chewed you up and spit you out? Have you tried it all and come up empty? Drugs? Booze? Divorced? Done some time? Diagnosed with PTS? Thought about suicide?
Feel like you’ve been kicked to the curb, and you’re waiting for the next storm to wash you down the drain? Is life just an endless, dull routine, and you keep wondering, “Is this all there is?”
Maybe you’re even part of a church, but it’s one which asks a lot but gives back little?
Be assured, there is more to life - a lot more! There is help, and there is hope, and there is healing in our Lord.
Come and check us out.
Everyone is welcome!
We certainly aren’t.
Anything is possible with God.
Mike is one of the Elders and helps "the other Mike" shepherd the flock. Mike tends to the sick and shut-ins when needed . He mows the church lawn and assists with problems at the building. When we make contact with people outside of the church, Mike will correspond and conduct Bible studies with them. Mike is also responsible for (and enjoys) following up with any visitors we have.
The word "Deacon" simply means "a servant." Don was appointed as a Deacon in September 2014. Don is responsible for helping the elders in our benevolence program. Additionally, he will be coordinating a "visiting" program as we help with needs both within the congregation and within the community. From time to time he will also help in planning special worship assemblies.
Appointed as a Deacon in September 2014, Rick has taken on several new responsibilities. He is the coordinator for the young adult ministries and activities. Rick teaches our Sunday morning teen class. He handles and assigns the worship schedule every Sunday. He is also the electronic and technical coordinator. This includes overseeing equipment, web design, and the church's social media efforts.
Jeff serves as minister for the congregation and, as such, provides the teaching of the word of God in various venues including public assemblies, congregation Bible classes, personal Bible studies, prison ministry, et al. He oversees the monthly scheduling of church activities and ministries with a view toward spiritual maturing and gospel outreach. Additionally, Jeff serves as liaison for the congregation’s minister in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. Also, be sure to check out Jeff's blog every week!
As an Elder, Mike's primary responsibility is to ensure everything in the congregation in running according to scripture. Mike's additional responsibilities include managing the church's finances and maintaining the upkeep for our church building.
