Surveys and observations indicate that real faith is declining in the world. Many churches are absorbing secular beliefs and practices. Jesus wondered whether He would find faith on the earth when He returned. Scripture records the amazing things God did with just a few people who had real faith. What was their faith all about? Can we have that faith today?
It will be a great and marvelous day when Jesus comes back at the end of earth time. Many things will happen then which will make it a great day. What will take place on that day? Jesus said that no man, not even the angels, but only the Father knows when He will return. So Jesus' word to all of us is to "be ready!"
Jesus noted in His prayer that He was not of the world nor were His disciples. Being in the world but not of the world creates a tension for the believer as the world and the kingdom of God are at total odds with each other. We want to take a look at how the Christian can resist the pressures of the world and stay strong for Christ in this sometimes hostile environment.
The scriptures have a lot to say about what we say! The tongue can do a lot of damage to people, or it can do a lot of good. The Holy Spirit affirms there is great healing power in the tongue - how our words can encourage, uplift and comfort others at different times in life. We all need to learn to do a lot better with what we say and when we say it.
